The overwhelming success of the Levitt Shell has created a need to renovate the existing Levitt Shell structure and add new amenities for our patrons. The renovation began in October 2015 and will be completed in time for the 2016 Orion Free Concert Series.

We’ve applied mission-based design with insight from our community and the artists we serve. This includes designating the west side of the Levitt Shell to support music and production needs.  The music wing improvements include dedicated loading for artists and appropriate storage needs for the sound and lighting system.

Technological improvements are needed to support our audience growth, headlining performer requirements, and combat the equipment deterioration due to the outdoor environment. Last year more than $15,000 was spent on equipment rentals to accommodate artist requirements and exceptional artist opportunities have been turned away due to inadequate technology. New technology will expand the quality and reach of our programs especially for programming large scale production and musical groups.

New LED video screens will allow us to provide stronger images for donor and sponsor recognition and will be better designed for outdoor use than our current system, which is not visible in daylight. This equipment will have a life span in excess of ten years, and will reduce annual production expenses by more than 15%.

Safety, security, access, and entertainment are universal expectations of Shell patrons. The new Community area will unite concessions, volunteers, security, and merchandise together with a shared mission: to support the Levitt Shell community experience. Imagine a multi-functional space, well-lit and protected from traffic, where patrons can eat, shop, congregate and donate to Levitt Shell.

Having sufficient space for sponsors and donors at the Shell is essential to our continued growth and will secure our ability to live our mission of funding fifty free concerts every year. A newly designed Hospitality Hilltop Deck has multi-functional spaces that can accommodate four separate events complete with wood decking, attractive lighting and ADA ramps and accessibility. This new amenity will increase income from sponsorships and facility rentals by 25% in the first three years.
